The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is a multilateral financial institution that supports social and economic development across its member countries, with the aim of improving living standards and promoting sustainable growth. Albania has been a member of the IsDB since 1993 and has participated in programs and projects that have had a direct impact on infrastructure and essential public services.
Through its support, the IsDB has contributed to key sectors such as transport, drinking water supply, agriculture, urban development, health care, and education. Funded projects have helped modernize road networks, improve access to health services, and build capacity in education and agriculture—thereby fostering economic growth and enhancing quality of life at both national and local levels.
The IsDB also promotes transparency and accountability through its participation in the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), ensuring that development assistance is measurable and open to the public. This approach strengthens partner confidence and helps align financial support with Albania’s development priorities and its objectives on the path toward integration into the European Union.
