Installation of More than 600 MW of New Renewable Energy Capacity – Measure 4.2.2

This document presents the implementation of the Reform Agenda step on increasing renewable energy generation capacity. Although the target was scheduled for completion by June 2027, Albania achieved it ahead of schedule by commissioning 729.10 MW of new renewable energy capacity after 1 January 2024, exceeding the minimum target of 600 MW.

The newly commissioned capacity includes 630 MW of photovoltaic generation and 99.10 MW of new hydropower capacity connected to both the transmission and distribution networks. The results are based on the administrative records of the Transmission System Operator (OST) and the Distribution System Operator (OSSH), corroborated by public data published by the Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE). The reform accelerates Albania’s clean energy transition, strengthens energy security, and supports the country’s objectives for integration into the European electricity market and sustainable economic development.
